We know, rules are a drag. But they’re here to make sure we all have a fun time here on the Jeannette Jonic Official Forums!
Unless otherwise stated, first infractions will result in a warning; further infractions will receive a 50% warn, then 75%, then a temporary week-long ban, and finally a permanent IP ban.
1) Treat others as you’d like to be treated. Be respectful. Be kind. Be constructive, not destructive. Work to promote an uplifting environment, not one that makes people feel like they don’t want to be here.
NOTE: Feedback and specific critique of the books are welcome. Criticizing and insulting other members and their values or tastes is not.
If you have an issue with another member, we encourage you to resolve that matter respectfully and maturely on your own. If after trying this becomes impossible, you may then seek a Moderator to mediate. Requesting a Moderator for support should not be your first and immediate option.
2) No flaming: no insulting, bashing, or hating on people. No cursing and/or filter bypassing. Things that could be considered derogatory to any other person are not allowed in any part of your posts, profile, or avatar. See Rule #1.
NOTE: The world of Sion and beyond contain themes that touch on politics and religion. As such, we allow constructive discussions about these topics as they relate to the stories. If these discussions break down into destructive, personal attacks or talk of real-world issues that don’t connect to the books, such topics will be closed, and there may be consequences for members who attempt to re-open such discussions or further escalate matters. We all come from different backgrounds and have different perspectives. Be kind; be respectful.
3) No Pornography/Sex/Nudity/Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content. This includes your profile and avatar. Depending on the severity, this may result in an instant IP ban.
4) No spamming: stay on topic, don’t abuse the timeout system (10 seconds between posts). Extremely short (1-3 word) posts or those with excessive emojis are only allowed so long as they contribute to the discussion; excessive abuse may result in a warning or beyond. Posts that verge on excess are subject to edits by our moderation team.
We try to give accounts the benefit of the doubt, but if an account is suspected to be a bot account, it will receive one warning. Any further suspect behavior may result in account deletion and IP ban. If your account has been wrongfully removed, please Email Us by clicking the link in our banner, and we’ll reinstate your account as soon as we’re able.
In addition, please try to post topics in the appropriate forum. A misplaced topic now and then won’t result in a warning and will be quietly moved by the moderation team, but repeated offenses (especially if proven to be done intentionally) may result in a warning or beyond.
NOTE: You may add up to 2 replies to your own topic to increase visibility (“bumping”) as long as it’s been at least 24 hours since your last post in that topic AND no other members have offered a meaningful response to your original post. Posting in any open topic, even if it is old (a month or older) (“necro-posting”), is allowed.
5) No advertising outside of appropriate channels. This includes through DM, signature, avatar, or any other medium. The only advertising allowed is in the proper forum (you must have made at least 50 posts and have been a member for at least 1 month before advertising), and it can only be done once a month per artist. We do not allow using or encouraging other accounts to attempt to advertise your site more often than once per month. If you do not abide by these rules, it will immediately result in a 50% warn.
6) Don’t ask to be made an Administrator or Moderator. Moderators are chosen based on quality of character and capability.
7) Administrators and Moderators have the final say on what is and is not allowed. That said, we do our best to investigate each incident to gain the fullest understanding of the context and all involved points of view. At the end of the day, our moderation staff are volunteers who are offering their time to make sure this space is comfortable, positive, and engaging for everyone. We want to do right by you!
